One Killed In Overnight CT House Fire

A Connecticut man was found dead after an overnight house fire.

The blaze began around 12:20 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 10, at a home located in New Haven County at 79 Pleasant View Road in Derby, said the Derby Fire Department.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the house was up in flames, but were able to knock it down quickly, the department said.

Firefighters located the body in the front of the home while fighting the fire, according to the department. 

The man who is reportedly 52-years-old was the only occupant of the home, the department said.

Units are still operating on the scene, the department said.

The Derby Fire Marshall along with the State Police Fire Investigation Unit are investigating the cause of the fire.

The victim has not been identified pending notification of next of kin.

The department was assisted by the Ansonia Fire Department.
